-Fra finanskrise til nybarokk.
I løpet av de siste femten årene har jeg laget en serie malerier, med motiv som geografisk følger finanskrisen fra Norden og Europa, til USA, New York, før den ender opp i et Cuba i endring under den nyoppståtte dialogen med USA og den forestående opphevingen av en årelang blokade.
Vel hjemme igjen opplever vi at klasseskillet øker mellom rik og fattig og oljeberget er ikke fullt så sikkert lenger… Med Brexit kommer den første reaksjonen fra et folk som ikke føler seg hørt, myndigheten i Tyskland oppfordrer for første gang siden den kalde krigen til hamstring i frykt for terrorfare, og valget i USA får uante følger. I En Passant følger vi kampen om verdiene.
Samtidsspeilingen, En Passant, beskriver den vestlige finanskrisens globale påvirkning og enkeltindividets skjebne. Arbeider fra denne utstillingen er vist bl.a. i Firenze, New York, og Oslo Børs i Norge, og skildrer den vestlige krisen.
-A Contemporary Reflection
Over the past fifteen years, I have created a series of paintings with motives that are geographically following the financial changes from Scandinavia and Europe to the United States, New York.
The series consists of motives, taken in the wake of the financial crisis. It is a contemporary reflection that extends from the north, before the financial crisis started, and through Europe till USA, before ending up in and Cuba during the resent started dialog between USA and Cuba, and the forthcomingrepeal of years of an on going blokade. Back in Norway we experience that the gap between rich and poor is increasing, and our “wall of oil” is falling apart . With Brexit we get the first reaction from a people not being heard, the german government advice the people for the first time since the cold war pile stocking in fear of terror, and the US election gets an unforeseen result.
Works from this exhibition are shown among others in Italy , New York and Oslo Stock Exchange in Norway, and describes the western crisis..
Maleriserien er kalt ”En Passant” Det finnes et vel omdiskutert trekk innen sjakk som har denne betegnelsen. En bonde har alltid mulighet til å ta to skritt i første trekk. Denne evnen fikk man for å komme fortere inn i kamp, men ikke for å flykte. Brukes dette trekket for å komme forbi motstanderens bonde, kan denne slås.
Slik blir tematikken i serien samtidig en henspeiling til hvordan de store å små beslutninger binder alle sammen i en felles skjebne. Tematikken ønsker med dette å synliggjøre individets skjebne på godt og vondt i den store sammenhengen. Vi kan som bonden ikke flykte fra våre beslutninger og verden slåss nå for å finne veien til en bærekraftig fremtid.
The series is called “En Passant”. There is a well debated move in chess that have this term. The pawn always has the opportunity to take two steps in the first move. This ability was obtained to get faster into a battle, but not to escape. If this move is used to get past your opponent’s pawn, this can therefore be taken.
This is why the theme of the series also is a reflection on how the major to minor decisions bind us all together in a common destiny. The theme wishes to highlight the individual’s fate, good and bad in the grand scheme. We in the same way as the pawn cannot escape from our decisions, and the world are now fighting to find its way to a sustainable future.
